About Premier League

The Football League was the highest football league in England from its beginning until 1992. Since 1995 until the present day, there are 72 clubs in the Football League, that break down into three divisions, League One, League Two and the Championship. One feature of the league is to give the top Championship clubs the opportunity to change places with the lowest ranked clubs from the Premiership.

It was the work of William McGregor,a director at Aston Villa, who first suggested the creation of a league competition to supply a number of fixtures for the club membership each season.

The meeting that started it all was held in London, on the very night of the Football Association Cup, in London at the Anderson Hotel, March 23, 1888. The Football League was officially formed and named at the Royal Hotel in Manchester on April 17, 1888.

By 1992, the resignation of the First Division clubs occurred when they sought to take an opportunity of a television rights deal. So then the Premiership was created on May 27, 1992. After 104 years the Football league was in for a change. A league that operated with four divisions, now was change to a Premier League and the Football League had three.

The competition format stayed the same, the regulation and promotion between the Premiership was put in place, and there was no change in competition format. The same number of teams competed in the top flight, and promotion and relegation between the Premier League and the new First Division remained on the same terms as between the old First and Second Divisions.

There have been seven steadfast clubs with membership since the very beginning of the Premiership competition for every single season. This group consists of Aston Villa, Arsenal, Everton, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.

While the League had been known as FA Premier League for many years, the name was changed in 2007 to just the Premier League. It is also commonly referred to as the Premiership.

The record for the largest number of Premier League appearances is held by David James, beating the record of appearances made by Gary Speed in February of 2009.

Brian Deane, playing for Sheffield United scored the very first goal in the Premier League against Manchester United.

The all time record amount of transfer in the history of the sport involved a Premier League club selling Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 to Manchester United for the sum of £80 million from Real Madrid.

Keep off high arched shoes – You may not have a foot arch, but this does not mean that you choose cleats with a very high arch. Such shoes will only cause you pain; you may even end up with a sore around the arch area which can be uncomfortable and painful. Focus on arch support that will not do you harm during play, moderate arch is the best way to go.

Choose roomy shoes – Flat feet require plenty of space to feel comfortable. Ensure therefore, that you select a size that offers enough space to accommodate the feet and keep you comfortable. It is most advisable that you measure your feet so you are able to select the perfect size for you.

Go for flexible midsoles – This is one of ways of ensuring that your feet remain comfortable. The midsole should not only be flexible but also well-padded to keep your feet at their best. Some cleats are employing orthotics technology to offer more comfort and flexibility.

Get assistance – when you are not very sure which cleats are best for flat feet, it would be a good idea to let a professional offer you the help you need. Playing Football Is Fun

Always keep your ears open to your teammates. You may not always agree with your teammates but everyone wants to win and you must support each other. You never know when they might say something that can improve your ability to help the team win

Remember that all goals are achievable if you try hard enough. You need to have a positive mindset as you practice and play the game. You CAN be an amazing football player! If you keep this in mind, you will find you have more drive and passion for the game as you play.

Try to focus some of your exercises on increasing speed. Do jumping squats to increase the speed of your reflex muscles. Squat down and jump on a step. Stand straight up and then jump back down and into a squat. Repeat this exercise 40 times daily and gradually increase the height of the step.

To play football, you need to know what a down is. Downs are the four attempts that the team with the ball gets. They use these downs to advance the ball 10 yards. When the offense is successful with gaining 10 yards, they will get another set of downs. If they fail to get 10 yards after the four plays, the opposing team gets the ball.

Speed is an important attribute for a football player. Regardless of your size or the position you play on the field, you need to practice improving your speed. Working on increasing your speed before you worry about adding weight to your frame. The extra weight may slow you down and being big and slow is not going to help your team.

Increase your speed. A good football player needs to be quick on his feet, not only in sprints, but in reaction time and reflexes too. Try adding in some track exercises into your workout regimen and before you know it you will be leaving your opponents behind in the dust.

Three Point Stance

Take a good look at the image above it show a perfect three point stance. Here are the fine points:

1. Legs are spread just a bit wider than shoulder length.
2. One foot is staggered slightly further back than the other.
3. Knees are bent at an almost perfect 90 degree angle.
4. Players back is almost perpendicular to the ground.
5. Players down arm keep player’s balance with a VERY slight lean forward.
6. Players other arm is at a 90 degree angle placed on his opposite thigh.
7. Players head is UP.

This is a perfect three point stance. This should be practiced and reviewed daily, making sure each player knows how to fire out of his stance. I guarantee you will see the benefits almost immediately.

At every practice, no matter what the age level, you need to be working on the proper stance. As a player progresses throughout his career in football his stance should be automatic. Teaching a player how to get into, hold and fire out of the proper stance is a skill they will benefit from their entire playing career.

In today’s youth football world, organizations like USA Football are preaching getting away from more contact in practices. They are advocates of “head up” tackling and are now promoting “heads up” blocking which is accomplished from a two point stance. I think these changes are great, but it still is not a substitute for teaching the kids a proper three point stance. I’m all for the new and safer method of tackling and blocking, but many teams are not following the “new way” so we need to have our kids prepared no matter what techniques our opponents are using.

Important Football Coaching Skills

You should be a role model while giving coaching to the youngsters. Youths are observant and they copy their models. Generally, they idolize their favorite player whether off the game or on the field. While giving football coaching, start by teaching them the basics. Allow the players find what are their weaknesses and strengths. Make sure that the players pay attention on the game despite of several negative drives. As all of us know football needs lot of practice. So, make the practice sessions more interesting by adding various types of creative activities in it that will help kids attracted towards it. As far as possible keep the football drills small.

Remember, youngsters believe things that they see. It will be better to idolize some popular football coaches but keep in mind that it should never be a motivator. Try to explain your plays and drills that you are teaching the children. Teach them the ways how to execute their football skills in order to become a champion. As a trainer, you should always think in a positive manner. You should never think emotionally as it will always give rise to negative results. You should believe that kids have the potential to make mistakes, so as a trainer you should help them overcome their mistakes by allowing them to think in a positive manner. Always remember that positive thinking always gives rise to great results.

There is various football coaching courses for those coaches who want certificates for their skill. Such courses help trainers collect all necessary information regarding football training. The level 1 coaching course is meant for those who do not have any knowledge about coaching. In order to enroll in this particular course, one does not need any prior football experience. Another popular football coaching course is level 2. It is meant for those trainers who are in an advanced level. This course is especially meant for those who want to enhance their football skills.

Running Backs Suffer

Most of the great running backs that have broken records and have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame have played on mediocre teams for most of their entire career.

Here are a few examples of what I am talking about. Eric Dickerson, Walter Payton, and Barry Sanders the list is longer than that but those are the few names that came off the top of my head at the time. You guys are probably wondering why Walter Payton is on the list?

Walter Payton played on losing teams for most of his entire career until Mike Ditka arrived. By the time Ditka arrived Walter Payton’s career was on the decline. It has been reported that Mike Ditka embarrassed Payton at Super XX when he let William Perry score a rushing touchdown at the goal line.

It seemed like a joke to everyone else but not to Walter Payton. Great running backs cannot even shine on the biggest stage even if they wanted to. Barry Sanders was a human highlight reel with the Detroit Lions. But he had only been to the postseason five times in his career and made one trip to the NFC Championship Game in 1991.

In my honest opinion if you made the postseason only five times in a ten year career that’s pretty bad. But there have also been great running backs that were surrounded by other talented players that went on to win championships.

Tailbacks such as Emmitt Smith, Marshall Faulk, and Franco Harris were all fortunate enough to have an outstanding front office management and a solid coaching staff to be successful throughout their careers in regards to being on a competitive team year end and year out.

I do not understand why superstar caliber running backs must endure such hardship throughout their career and never show any signs of complaining.

Barry Sanders could have bolted out of Detroit a long time ago but opted to stay and endure the hardship of struggling with the Lions. One running back that had endured great success throughout his career is the great Jim Brown.

He won his first ever NFL title and retired right after to pursue a successful acting career. I guess if running backs begin to pout about how their team suck and that they want to request a trade they will get tagged with the so called “Diva Label”. Star running backs have always showed a great deal of sportsmanship on and off the field.

Catch Every Ball

There are three options available when preparing to catch a football with your hands. The first option, move your hands toward the football. This is the worst of the three options. When you move your hands toward a fast-moving football, you turn your hands into a virtual baseball bat. More than likely you will, at contact, repel the oncoming football and miss the catch.

The second option is to keep your hands still. It is not quite as bad as option one, but it still sets up a situation where your hands act like a backboard that could easily repel the football. Most football players catch this way. Teaching them to use their fingertips help, but it is not the best solution to the problem.

The third option, the one I recommend and seems to be instinctively used by most successful wide receivers who have been deemed to have “soft hands”. It is to move your hands slightly backwards, about a thumb to a middle fingers length, right before the ball makes contact with your hands. You create a basket like effect. For a short period of time your hands match the velocity of the football, in the same direction of course, and then slow down to secure the catch. It creates less chance for repelling the football and missing catches.

The motion is similar to those of a tennis player when an errant ball comes his way. He simply reaches out with his racket and catches the ball. It seems like the ball just sticks, almost magnetically, to the racket. However, it is the rapid acceleration and then deceleration of the hands that makes it work.
